Manitoba Student Aid

Doowah worked with Communication Services Manitoba (CSM) to update the look/brand of a long established program to reflect the diversity (age, gender, ethnic) of the clients they serve. The project came with challenges – there would be no budget for a photo shoot and the expectation that photos would be available from stock photography sites. The problem was that the stock photo sites are mostly American and their diversity photos represent their population, drastically different from Canada’s population. We had to find another answer.

To further complicate the project, CSM wanted the graphics to appeal to the youthful crowd who were the main clients of Student Aid. As we started to work through potential solutions, we found one that soon became the obvious choice. We recognize human characteristics through details of the face as well as skin colour. However, if we eliminate those elements, we create an impression that can be interpreted in different ways. The group below, all stock photography, were part of the final graphics that were used in print, online advertising, environmental graphics and a website

Establish a New Production Endowment Fund –
$1 million

MTYP has an award-winning history of creating theatre works for young audiences and this legacy continues to this day. The establishment of this endowment fund will generate enough interest annually to ensure MTYP has the financial stability to create new productions for young audiences.
